Kathleen Wirtz is a certified nurse, midwife, and women’s health nurse practitioner. She joined the medical team at Sea Mar’s Vancouver Medical Clinic in August 2010.

Graduating summa cum laude, Kathleen earned her license as a registered nurse at Linfield College in Portlad, Oregon. She earned a Master’s degree in nursing from San Diego State University.

Kathleen found her true calling working at the Best Start Birth Center, an out-of-hospital birthing clinic in San Diego. At the center, she served as the birth center’s breastfeeding specialist, and learned techniques that help women experience un-medicated, family-centered births. Kathleen has also worked as a birth doula, a Bradley® childbirth educator, and a La Leche League leader.

Upon her arrival at Sea Mar, she began serving as a women’s health care provider and initiated a prenatal care program. The first baby born in this new program was delivered at Legacy Salmon Creek hospital on October 10, 2010 – 10/10/10 the “perfect date.”

Prior to entering midwifery, Kathleen raised five children, volunteered in her community, and donated six years of her time to Habitat for Humanity. She proudly features her eight grandchildren in her office and when not working, Kathleen enjoys time with her family at church activities, tent camping, playing games, doing needlework, and visiting amusement parks.
