Dr. Jason Buchanan is a Family Medicine Physician with nearly 25 years of broad-spectrum clinical experience. He completed his undergraduate work at Houghton University, graduating with honors with degrees in Biology/Chemistry and linguistics. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine from Penn State University where he spent his last three months electively practicing medicine at a jungle hospital in Gabon deep in the heart of West Africa. Dr. Buchanan has become adept at providing patient-centered medicine in both domestic and international settings, working in urgent care, traditional primary care, military health, correctional medicine and veteran services. He believes that all humans deserve compassionate high quality medical care and is excited to work with Sea Mar and its communities in and around Tacoma to provide that.
Dr. Buchanan moved from the Southeastern US to Washington State hoping to take full advantage of all the outdoor activities the PNW has to offer. When not at work, he can often be found in the forest hiking around with his dog. When not doing that, he’s often reading or taking road trips to explore the surrounding areas and all they have to offer.
