Dr. John Okrent graduated from SUNY Buffalo Medical School in 2012 before completing his residency in Family and Social Medicine at Montefiore in the Bronx, NY.
He worked in mobile outreach clinics and in the homeless shelter system in New York City before moving to Tacoma in 2017 and beginning his work at Sea Mar.
He is a recipient of the Gold Humanism Honor Society Award.
He believes that health care is a human right and wants his patients to feel empowered, listened to, and seen. He thinks of the doctor-patient relationship as one in which the patient plays the lead role in working towards health of body and soul—and the doctor is there in service of this goal.
He enjoys reading and writing and spending time with his wife and two young children.
