Jay joined Sea Mar Bellingham Behavioral Health Clinic in January of 2025 as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA). He attained his Associate in Arts from Skagit Valley College and later earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Western Washington University. Following his undergraduate degree, Jay enrolled into Liberty University’s Master of Education in School Counseling program while simultaneously pursuing dual licensure to become a mental health therapist.
Jay completed his graduate program and is eager to continue his education to further his abilities within counseling and knowledge of behavioral sciences. He had served in the United States Army Special Forces as a Green Beret which helped develop his understanding of resilience, teamwork, and a structured approach to goal setting. Jay’s therapeutic approach is based upon motivational interviewing which emphasizes collaborative efforts, and empowering individuals to identify and achieve their goals. His professional interests include anxiety, post-traumatic stress, and depression.
Jay was born and raised in a rural community in Skagit Valley and enjoys physical fitness and training dogs.
