Sea Mar is committed to graduate medical education.
The mission of the Department of Medical Education is to train and graduate skilled family medicine providers who are committed to the underserved and vulnerable and will serve those communities throughout their careers.
It is our hope that Sea Mar graduates will continue to work in Community Health Centers such as Sea Mar. All of our GME programs emphasize interdisciplinary medicine and patient-centered, culturally competent care, with exposure to medically and socially complex patients.
Sea Mar Seattle's Family Medicine Residency site began in 1987 in collaboration with the Providence Family Medicine (now Swedish Cherry Hill) Residency.
The Seattle clinic is a satellite site of the main program, the Swedish Family Medicine Residency at Cherry Hill.
The goal in 1987 was to demonstrate that a collaborative effort between a Community Health Center and an established residency program could provide an outstanding training experience for Family Medicine residents.
Sea Mar and Swedish have been very successful at recruiting residents who desire to work with a multicultural, Latino rich community and continue to serve underserved populations in CHC settings as they continue their careers.
