Sarah Pearse began as a mental health therapist at Sea Mar's Bellingham Behavioral Health Clinic in June of 2019. Before Sea Mar, Sarah was working as a co-occurring counselor at an inpatient facility for mental health and substance use. She also has prior experience working in case management. Sarah completed her undergraduate education in philosophy from the University of Oregon and earned a Masters of Counseling from Antioch University Seattle in 2016.
Sarah is passionate about educating the public about trauma and its far-reaching effects, as well as decreasing the stigma around addiction and mental illness. She volunteers with advocacy groups and writes online articles about these issues to increase awareness in her spare time.
A Portland native, Sarah just recently moved to Bellingham from Seattle and continues to work her way up the I-5 freeway, exploring all the beauty that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. She is hoping to get a rescue dog soon so that she can have a companion to begin exploring the hikes and trails of Whatcom County.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys writing, learning about neuroscience, going on picnics, yoga, going to comedy shows, sitting in the sun and cooking new and interesting recipes.
