Dr. Ben Winkes, a native of Skagit County, graduated from La Conner High School. He joined Sea Mar in 2002, and currently serves on the Peer Review Committee at Skagit Valley Hospital.
Dr. Winkes earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in History and Biology at Stanford University in California. He spent a year doing community organizing in Idaho as a VISTA volunteer, then completed medical school at the University of Washington in 1998. He completed his family medicine residency and a fellowship in faculty development and women's health at Sutter Medical Center in Santa Rosa, California, where he also served as a chief resident.
Dr. Winkes medical training includes working and volunteering in multiple medical settings in Mexico, Guatemala, and Nicaragua, where he continues to volunteer at a rural clinic. He enjoys reading, studying history, the outdoors, and spending time with his family.
