Dr. Havens was raised by his mother in a small town in California. His first real job was at an Auto body shop at the age 12; this instilled a strong work ethic in him that he would tap into later in life. After graduating from high school, he spent the next 18 years pursuing higher education. He studied Physics and Engineering for 4 years at the University of California at San Diego. He lived in Mexico while attending UAG medical school and rotated through the Texas Medical Center at Baylor College of Medicine, and at Stanford University where he developed the interest in ambulatory medicine. He then moved to New York while attending New York Medical College. Then back to California for 2 years at Loma Linda California while studying his Masters in Public Health. He completed his Internship in General Surgery at New York Hospital, before switching career paths to Family Medicine and moving to Yakima, Washington. Dr Havens feels working at Sea Mar is very rewarding since it gives him the best opportunity to make a difference in an underserved and grateful community.
