- The Seattle based, 9-month, full-time community nutrition internship begins each year in the fall (September/October) and ends in June. A one-week orientation prepares the selected eight dietetic interns for the experiences ahead.
- The interns pay $8,000 in tuition and complete 1,200 hours of supervised-practice experience working under Registered Dietitians and other Preceptors. In addition to clinical medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and food service administration (FSA) rotations, community nutrition rotations include outpatient, long-term care, child development, WIC, community nutrition administration and migrant/homeless services.
- Applying for our internship remains very competitive. Annually, we receive many more applications (~100-150) than positions available. Our goal is to recruit Dietitians to work in our clinics after the internship is completed.
- To graduate and receive a verification statement, interns must pass each rotation and complete all 1200 required hours and projects assigned by the DI Director. Those who meet the requirements earn 800 out of 1,000 points and a 3.0 or higher average on all evaluations.
