Preventive Health Services

The goal of Sea Mar’s Maternity Support Services (MSS) program is to help you to have a healthy pregnancy by providing support and information related to your prenatal and postpartum health. MSS is covered under Washington Apple Health (Medicaid). All clients who are eligible for Medicaid and have a Provider One Service Card qualify for MSS services.





• Prenatal and postpartum education groups (MSS)
• Breastfeeding groups (MSS and WIC)
• Transportation assistance during your pregnancy
• Hospital tours in English and Spanish
• Behavioral Health Counseling
• Dental Care
• WIC
• Chemical Dependency Services

Community Health Worker
Enrolls you into the program, schedules your appointments and explains the services and resources offered by MSS.

Social Worker
Addresses emotional or situational changes that could be affecting your health and your baby’s health. Provides support and brief counseling in order to prevent stress and depression during your pregnancy. Provides information and referrals for appropriate services and resources in the community.

Nurse
Provides counseling and education related to your prenatal and postpartum care, including:
• Family planning
• Prenatal and postpartum education groups
• Breastfeeding
• Changes in your body
• Physical discomforts
• Any health concerns that could affect you and your baby, such as gestational diabetes
• Helps you communicate with your doctor about your questions and concerns.

Registered Dietician
Will review your health goals and any medical conditions you might have. They will ask about what you eat and assess your diet in relation to your goals and your health.
Provides nutrition information, educational materials, support, and follow up appointments to help you make and maintain any dietary changes.
Provides education and information on how diet is related to the prevention and/or treatment of disease, you will work together to identify areas where change is needed, prioritize those changes, and problem‐solve as to implement the changes.

Infant Case Manager
Provides support and guidance in the care of your new infant and the care of your family from the time your baby is 2-3 months old through his or her first birthday (for those who qualify).
Helps you become self-sufficient in gaining access to medical, social, educational and other services you might need.
